UNDERSTANDING & EVALUATING YOUR CREDIT REPORTS

When you evaluate your credit report it's important to look at each account separately.  Put each account into a specific category (use "Account Interpretation Form" in Appendix 3).

When you examine each report, pay attention to how they report your payment history, status date or date of last activity and account comments.

It is important to remember that according to federal law, your account status and dates must be ACCURATE and VERIFIABLE! (refer to the FCRA, Section 611, in Appendix 5).

Below we discuss each important factor of your credit file and how it is noted on each bureaus file.
