CORRECTING YOUR CREDIT

Be sure you have reviewed this whole manual before attempting to repair or correct your credit rating.

You correct your credit when you find that there is information on your reports which you have found to be inaccurate, erroneous, misleading, outdated or can no longer be verified. Before trying to repair your credit problems we recommend that you be on your feet for at least the last six months to one year, having been paying any debts on a regular timely basis.  Also, that you are willing and able to pay back any past debt which may remain in default.  You need to show your creditors and yourself, that you are now worthy of a second chance.

As you've read, credit reporting has tremendous influence on our lives.  You must take as much control as possible on how the system effects you. This means insisting on your rights.  Correcting your credit is a right.

Remember, the federal law states that credit information of a derogatory nature, must be reported accurately and must also be verifiable. If they are unable to verify the information or find that it was reported in error, they must promptly delete any of those items from your report. This is the main part of the law that you use when trying to correct or improve your credit rating.

If the credit bureaus do not comply with your request, you do have the right to file a suit against them.
